Chancellor Rachel Reeves will deliver her first Autumn Budget to the House of Commons on 30 October.

Mercia’s experts will be watching the speech diligently before swinging into action to create an in-depth summary of the announcements.

Our Budget Summary will contain the key changes from the day, summarised in a clear, easy-to-read format for your firm’s clients.

We offer a range of digital and printed products that can be personalised for your firm or repurposed for the needs of your clientele.

Tips for using your Budget summary

You will be able to share the summary with your clients giving them a comprehensive report into the day’s announcements.

You can then use this as a launchpad to engage and inform your clients further on what the changes mean for them, their businesses and their families.

Here we offer some advice on how you can engage with clients further.

Share your opinions

Share your professional opinions with your clients. They may well have seen the headlines in the national press but you have the expertise and experience to tell them what may matter to them.

Pick out the measures that will be key for your clients. Explain why they are important, who they impact and when the changes will happen.

You could publish your immediate responses through a live reaction on your LinkedIn feed or put together a blog post analysing the changes. Your opinions will make your content much more engaging than a basic list of policies.

Give them the detail

Explain what the Chancellor’s announcements will mean for you clients in real-life, practical terms. Make the changes as relevant to their family and business lives as possible. Advise them on what action they might need to take and when.

Most importantly don’t forget to signpost the availability of your services if further help and advice is required.

KISS

Keep It Simple Stupid. There’s often a temptation to over-complicate things. As an accountant you may well enjoy the minutiae of the tax code, the chances are your clients don’t. Your content doesn’t need to go into the intricacies of the tax system – it just needs to let your clients know what affects them. Use plain English, avoid jargon and make sure you’re contactable for those who need further explanations.

Plan ahead

The majority of the Chancellor’s announcements will take time to come into force. Plan a content calendar for the next 12 months. This can be used to send timely reminders and topical information to your clients so they don’t miss any of the changes that impact on them.
